“TANTRIC CYCLE are exactly the type of flat out rock and roll we need nowadays. The Austrian/Japanese hard rockers take no prisoners, and nor should they. In an era where you are more likely to come across watered down nonsense within a click of a radio dial, these boys are here to save the day. A promising glimpse of pounding bass, murderous guitars and high octane.”
- Pete Angell / Black Velvet Magazine UK
Rock n roll until the end
TANTRIC CYCLE is a child of a long history of rock n’ roll reaching back to when The Rolling Stones proclaimed their sympathy for the devil. The depth and distinctiveness, reckless approach, musical range and drive of bands such as Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Aerosmith greatly inspired TANTRIC CYCLE’s endeavours; while naturally recalling these influences in their own music, they have no inhibitions to make use of whatever stylistic device they deem fit to express the personality that is TANTRIC CYCLE.
The Band
TANTRIC CYCLE is an Austrian-Japanese independent hard rock band based in Los Angeles consisting of singer, lead guitarist, composer & producer Peter aka Lez, his brother, Paulus, singer, their longtime friend & rhythm guitarist Bones, and the power pack: Japanese twin brothers Yutaka and Satoshi, drummer and bassist, respectively.
STYLE
High energy, angry guitar rock, power ballads, punk outbursts and soothing nighttime melodies. Rock ‘n’ roll and grungy tones. A bit of Velvet Revolver, GNR, Aerosmith, Nirvana, Tom Petty and Iggy Pop.
They have furthermore been working with Grammy Award winning producer Jim Scott (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty), recorded with guest drummer extraordinaire Josh Freese (The Offspring, Sting, NIN), Grammy producer Ryan Hewitt (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lumineers), performed with Dizzy Reed of Guns N Roses, Billy Sheehan of Mr. Big, Ray Luzier of Korn and many more.
The early days
Their song Jerry Cotton (written, produced, performed, engineered, recorded & mixed by Lez) appeared in the same-titled movie (Jerry Cotton, Constantin Films 2010) and was released on its official soundtrack in 2010 (Ministry of Sound / Warner). They were guests on Howard Stern’s Sirius Satellite Radio on Andy Dick’s Shit Show, finalists of the Gretsch Guitars Unsigned Band Contest 2007 with their song For A Spell, won the Vinile Rock Contest in Italy 2007, upon which they were invited to play the Fuochi Fauti Festival and the Fiera della Musica (with Devo, Kaiser Chiefs) in the summer of the same year. They played at the Hollywood Rock Convention 2008, were elected semi-finalists in the category Rock of the International Songwriting Competition 2008 with their ballad Sentimental Movie and Featured Artist on Myspace in 2009. They released an EP titled For A Spell in 2010 consisting of For A Spell, Emotional Cutback and Bleed; For A Spell and Bleed also appear on the Vinile Rock Compilation 2008 (Cefalo Records).
